As mobile technology, bring your own device (BYOD), and the Internet of Things (IoT) continue to gain popularity at campuses across the nation, it’s more important than ever for colleges and universities to make sure their network infrastructure can keep up. CampusWorks' Network Assessment is a comprehensive review of your institution's network infrastructure and supporting services, including:
Edge switching: We evaluate edge router configurations to identify and determine WAN providers and topologies currently in production.
Core Infrastructure: We review core network infrastructure to identify and evaluate technologies used for IPAM, load balancing, firewall services, switching/routing within the core datacenter(s).
Switching: We evaluate a sampling of distribution and access layer switching infrastructure for the purpose of assessing current and future capacity needs and planning for Data, Wi-Fi, VoIP, IP-TV, and emerging technologies.
Wireless: We review the current campus wireless infrastructure for signal strength, wireless network access process, adequate throughput, security, and client experience including high-density design. All wireless controllers will be assessed for availability, software version and Cisco best practices.
Cable Plant: We assess current campus pathways and horizontal cable plant for both fiber optic and copper based on documentation provided. We evaluate cable plant areas by random sampling and network team discussions to certify information and provide recommendations for improvement and long-term planning.
Bandwidth: We analyze prior year and current documented network usage and metrics to provide long-range capacity planning.
Staffing: We review current network staffing for resource planning and support of current and future technologies.
