HCCC is growing enrollment while advancing a substantial facilities agenda. Both require disciplined choices about where the College commits operating and capital resources.

Three things caught our attention.

1. Recurring operating commitments deserve to be revisited as the institution changes. A strong procurement decision can remain sound while the institution it serves evolves. The financial question is whether the current Ellucian managed services model still delivers the right balance of cost, capacity, performance, and flexibility for the College HCCC is becoming.
2. Growth and facilities investment change the demand placed on the operating base. A larger student body and changing physical footprint affect support, integration, reporting, and service expectations. The useful comparison is not simply today’s contract price, but what the College is receiving and what it is absorbing internally around that scope.
3. Accreditation turns reporting capacity into an operating requirement. The Middle States Self-Study requires evidence that is consistent, timely, and defensible. That makes the cost and capacity of data, reporting, and cross-functional coordination part of the financial picture.

Why HCCC. Why now.

1. The College is growing and building at the same time. The operating base supporting both needs to be understood before future cost is locked in.
2. A technology managed services decision is ahead. An independent read now gives HCCC time to understand scope and tradeoffs without making the process about a deadline.
3. Accreditation work is consuming institutional capacity now. That provides a real-world test of whether the current model can produce the support and evidence the College requires.

This is a useful moment to step back because the evaluation is most valuable while important choices are still open — before the next operating model becomes the default.
