This page was built for Rider. It is a short outside read on the technology operating model supporting the University’s March to Sustainability work, prepared by CampusWorks + Dynamic Campus from public information.

Rider is taking a deliberate look at cost, structure, and the choices required to build a more sustainable future. One significant part of that operating model is the University’s Ellucian-managed IT function, in place since 2022.

Three things caught our attention.

1. Sustainability work is a natural time to revisit major operating models. Rider has already made meaningful choices about cost and structure. An independent look at managed IT is consistent with that same discipline — not because the current model is presumed to be wrong, but because every significant operating model should be tested against the institution Rider is becoming.
2. The right question is broader than contract price. Scope, service quality, capacity, flexibility, internal effort, and risk all matter. A managed services arrangement can provide real value and still need to evolve as institutional priorities and resources change.
3. The model should be sized for Rider’s future, not simply carried forward from 2022. The institution has changed since the current arrangement began. The opportunity is to understand whether today’s scope and support model still align with Rider’s needs for performance, capacity, flexibility, and long-term sustainability.

1. March to Sustainability is actively reshaping cost and structure. That makes this a relevant moment to evaluate a major recurring operating model with the same discipline applied elsewhere.
2. The managed IT arrangement has been in place since 2022. There is now enough operating history to establish a meaningful independent baseline.
3. Future managed services decisions are approaching. An outside view is most useful before renewal becomes a binary contract question.
