Liz Murphy

Chief Executive Officer & Chairman of the Board

In higher education since 1985

Educated by Jesuits at the University of Scranton, Liz learned that no question is insignificant and that always asking “why” would expand not only her knowledge, but the impact she could have on the world. Her passion for higher education is inspired by the uplifting effect it has had on her life — like so many of us — and by the desire to empower everyone to reach their full potential by having the tools, environment, and support they need to do so. The impact she has made spans three decades and her work has touched countless lives.

Liz joined CampusWorks as CEO in 2011, after 22 years at Datatel (now Ellucian), and immediately saw and embraced a larger vision for how the company could support colleges and universities in their mission to change lives through education. Under Liz’s leadership, the CampusWorks team has grown from a few dozen employees to several hundred innovative thinkers and leaders able to solve the toughest of challenges. Liz leads by example. Calm, determined, and always thoughtfully intentional, Liz builds meaningful and lasting relationships that spell client and organizational achievement. Perhaps the greatest testament to her leadership are her team members who work hard to serve our clients and are inspired to make the impossible possible — and to make everyone around them happier and more fulfilled.

Natalya joined CampusWorks in 2005, when we could still count our employees on two hands. Her strategic mindset and analytical prowess have been instrumental in expanding our services, attracting new clients, and growing our team to several hundred people.

Born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania—and educated at the University of Scranton—Natalya began her career as a marketing associate at Sanofi-Pasteur in the Pocono Mountains. A leap of faith and a cross-country road trip led her to CampusWorks, where she discovered her passion for higher education (and her preference for Florida sunshine).

Jacqueline Faulkner

Jacqueline Faulkner Ed.D.

Chief of Staff

In higher education since 1996

A seasoned higher education professional, Jacqueline has spent over 25 years of combined career history in student affairs administration, student success, and enrollment management, with a proven track record of exceptional results in process improvement and increasing student success outcomes. As a first-generation college graduate, Jacqueline’s passion and career work has been to help more students actualize their dreams of college completion and to improve policies, processes, and procedures within institutions to make college attainment a reality for more students, particularly those from underrepresented populations, whereby closing equity gaps in higher education.

Jacqueline earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Jackson State University, Master of Science in Leadership and Policy Studies and post-graduate certifications in Community College Leadership and Higher Education Leadership from the University of Memphis, and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership, from Trevecca Nazarene University. Jacqueline also completed the Class of 2018 Complete Tennessee Leadership Institute, a prestigious leadership development program focused on fostering innovation and promoting statewide, cross-sector collaboration in support of the Drive to 55. After spending 6 years as the Vice President of Student Affairs at Southwest Tennessee Community College, Jacqueline joined the CampusWorks team in 2021. As the Chief of Staff, Jacqueline plans and leads all administrative activities, organizes, and prioritizes critical issues to facilitate efficient decision-making to ensure the smooth operation of the organization, and manages strategic projects requiring cross-team collaboration.

Ben Golden

As an eager young student entering higher education, Ben fondly recalls his excitement at the ‘academic buffet line’ and limitless opportunities spread before him. After graduating from Lehigh University with a BS in Finance/Management he continued his passion for learning at NYU Stern School of Business obtaining his MBA in Finance/Management. Driven by his belief in strategic transformation, his 30-year career across finance is highlighted by making the seemingly impossible possible.

Enthusiastic about sharing his unabashed conviction in continued learning for all students, Ben is dedicated to helping higher education adapt to tremendous change which impacts not just students, faculty and staff – but has a broader connection around the world.

As a devoted Dad, these days Ben is reveling once again at stepping through the hallowed halls of academia, this time through the eyes of his children.

Keith Myers CampusWorks SVP of Client Engagement

Keith Myers

SVP, Client Engagement

In Higher Education since 1996

Born on a college campus, Keith hails from a long line of educators, dating back to his grandfather, Clovis Myers, who was the Dean of the Chemistry Department at a small Midwest private college. While seemingly destined to follow in his family’s footsteps, a job at his secondary school’s first ever computer lab introduced Keith to the exciting new world of information technology and set him on a path where his proud history and newfound interest would converge.

Keith has spent his entire career at the intersection of education and technology—from his freshman year at Bowling Green State University, where he worked in IT helping people access the internet via the original browser, Mosaic, to client engagement roles at organizations like N2N Services, Graduation Alliance, Socle Education, and Ellucian. Since joining CampusWorks in 2017, Keith has helped countless colleges and universities leverage the latest technological advances to prepare today’s students for the workforce of tomorrow.

Executive Advisory Board

Joseph Rossmeier, Ph.D.

Dr. Joseph Rossmeier is a results-driven technologist with the strategic vision and technical expertise needed to; turnaround troubled IT environments, improve service delivery, and ensure colleges, universities and systems successfully conquer their wicked challenges and deliver on their institutional mission. With over 35 years of experience in higher education, Joe is masterful at leveraging his expansive leadership experience and firsthand knowledge of institutional operations to advise senior higher education leaders on the strategic priorities facing them across multiple areas including; planning and management, shared services, administrative computing, academic computing, web services, technical infrastructure, security services, emergency services, annual and biannual budgeting, IT governance, grant development, institutional research and effectiveness, and advancing student success.

Joe is an active member of his community and enjoys numerous professional affiliations. He received his BS in Industrial Technologies from the University of Wisconsin. An MA in Sociology/Personnel Services from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Michigan.

Christine Hammond, Ph.D.

Dr. Christine M. Hammond served as President of Mid Michigan College. Prior to that, she was Chief Academic Officer for North Central Michigan College. Dr. Hammond’s career has encompassed numerous leadership experiences in student and academic affairs across a variety of institutional settings with significant expertise in institutional research, curriculum alignment and development, and strategic planning. President Hammond holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Thiel College, a Master of Arts degree in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Michigan State University.

Cary Israel, J.D.

Dr. Cary Israel is the district president emeritus of Collin College, TX, a multi-campus operation serving more than 52,000 students annually. Cary served as president of Collin College from 1999 through 2015. He previously served as president of Raritan Valley Community College in New Jersey, president of the Illinois Community College System, and president of Front Range Community College in Colorado. Cary earned a BA with highest honors from Michigan State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit Mercy Law School.

Frederick V. Moore, J.D.

Fred Moore served as president of Buena Vista University for twenty-two years and was named president emeritus in 2017. He is currently a search consultant with AGB Search. Prior to his service at BVU, Fred was vice president for development and general counsel at North Carolina Wesleyan College. He has served on the boards of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the Council of Independent Colleges, and the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning. He holds a Juris Doctor with Honors, an MBA, and a BA from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dale K. Nesbary, Ph.D.

Dale K. Nesbary, Ph.D. served as President of Muskegon Community College from 2009-2022 during which time the college was named best community college in Michigan in 2017 and 2021 by BestColleges.com and Intellegent.com respectively, employing standard success metrics. The College featured perennially nationally ranked RN and LPN nursing programs, and two performance groups (West Michigan Concert Winds and the MCC Collegiate Singers) having performed in the Isaac Stern Auditorium of New York’s famed Carnegie Hall.

Prior to MCC, he served as Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs and Full Professor of Political Science at Adrian College and as Associate Professor and Director of the Master of Public Administration Program at Oakland University. He also served as Research Director and Technical Services Director with the Boston Police Department as well as in leadership positions with City of Boston central administration. He also held analytic positions with the National Conference of State Legislatures in Denver, Colorado, and the Michigan Senate Fiscal Agency. During his professional career, he personally led multiple strategic planning processes, technology process redesign initiatives, and governance transitions.

He has presented on hundreds of occasions to academic, leadership, governance, legislative, and executive branch institutions and published three books and over 30 academic/refereed papers primarily in the areas of finance, technology, and policing. He earned a Ph.D. in Law, Policy and Society from Northeastern University, a Master of Public Administration degree from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University.

In addition to the CampusWorks Executive Advisory Board, he continues to chair the Trinity Health System Michigan Board and previously served on the Center for Community College Student Engagement (CCCSE) National Board, the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Workforce Development Commission, and the American Council of Education (ACE) Fellows Executive Board among others. He remains a silver life member of the NAACP.

He resides in Newburg, MD with his beautiful wife of 43 years, Connie and is the proud father of two adult children, Nicole, and Matthew. His interests include baking bread, crafting jams, and gigging with any group needing a trombonist.

Christine J. Sobek, Ed.D.

Dr. Christine J. Sobek’s 43-year career in higher education has been marked by exemplary leadership overseeing diverse academic operations. She has held various administrative roles in the community college setting, and as such, Dr. Sobek has mastered the intricacies of higher education administration. Most recently Dr. Sobek served as the president of Waubonsee Community College for 22 years and was named the president emeritus in January of 2023. Dr. Sobek’s contributions reach beyond the classroom into the community. She sits on the board of directors for the Conservation Foundation, Rush-Copley Medical Center, the Aurora Economic Development Corp., the Geneva History Center and the Greater Aurora Chamber of Commerce. She has contributed dozens of articles about education to local newspapers.

Dr. Sobek earned a doctoral degree from Northern Illinois University, a master’s degree from Michigan State University, and a bachelor’s degree, with Highest Distinction, from Purdue University. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and an honorary member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

George Pernsteiner

George Pernsteiner was the president of the State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) association from 2013-2017. Prior to that, he was chancellor of the Oregon University System from 2004-2013. Previously in his career, he served as vice chancellor for administrative services at the University of California, Santa Barbara; vice president for finance and administration at Portland State University; and vice provost and chief financial officer at the University of Oregon. He holds degrees from Seattle University and the University of Washington.

David Buettner, Ph.D.

Dr. David Buettner has 40 years of higher education experience. Most recently, he served as interim president of North Iowa Area Community College in 2013, where he was president from 1981-2001. He also served as president of Fox Valley Technical College from 2001-2008. Dr. Buettner earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University, a master’s degree from the University of Illinois, and his Ph.D. from Ohio State University.

Mary Fifield, Ph.D.

Dr. Mary Fifield served as president of Bunker Hill Community College, MA and Harrisburg Area Community College, PA. During her tenure at each institution, each college was selected as the national recipient for achievement of equity and opportunity for persons of color and women by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). Her 45-year community college service includes experience as academic vice president, dean of instruction, department chair, and faculty member. Currently, Dr. Fifield works with other colleges aspiring to increase student success and completion as an Achieving the Dream Leadership Coach. She holds a BA from Clarke College, an MFA from Pratt Institute, and a PhD from Saint Louis University.

Del Anderson Handy

Del Anderson Handy has 27 years of higher education experience in California. Early in her career, Del served as vice president of Skyline College and later became president of San Jose City College. In 1995, Anderson became the first woman president of the 77,000-student City College of San Francisco (CCSF), from which she retired in 1998. Del earned both her BS in early childhood education and teaching and her MSW in social work and community organizing from San Diego State University.

Norm Nielsen, Ph.D.

Dr. Norm Nielsen was the president of Kirkwood Community College for 20 years before retiring in 2005. In 2013, Dr. Nielsen served as interim president of Mount Mercy University. He received his bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Buena Vista University, his master’s degree in educational administration from Iowa State University, and a Ph.D. in educational administration from the University of Iowa.

David Rutledge

David Rutledge most recently served as state representative of Michigan’s 54th House District, a position to which he was first elected in 2010. Prior to this, David served three 6-year terms on the Board of Trustees at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 2003, he was elected Chair of the Board of Directors of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). David received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Tennessee State University and completed graduate work at both Harvard Law School and the University of Michigan Law School. David is also a military veteran. He served in the United States Air Force as a Personnel and Administrative Officer and achieved the rank of Captain.

David Cohen is the president of Minerva Advisors. Minerva is exclusively focused on investing in small and micro-cap value stocks using a rigorous value discipline across a wide range of industries. David earned his bachelor’s degree from Haverford College.

Douglas Schoenberg

Director
CEO, Softerware, Inc.

Douglas Schoenberg is the CEO of SofterWare and sits on the board of several nonprofits. In the 1990s, he pioneered the use of electronic payment processing in the childcare industry and has been championing its efficiency and cost-saving uses for non-profit and for-profit organizations. Doug earned his BS in Finance from Lehigh University.

Eric Schoenberg, Ph.D.

Adjunct Associate Professor, Columbia University

Dr. Eric Schoenberg conducts research on the psychology of money and asset market bubbles and has taught behavioral economics, decision making, and leadership at Columbia Business School, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, NYU’s Stern School of Business, and the Haas Business School of the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Schoenberg holds a PhD in Psychology from Columbia University, an MBA from the Wharton School, where he was a Palmer Scholar, an MSE in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania, and an AB in Biology from Harvard.
