Middlesex Community College Extends CampusWorks Contract
Creating Historic 16-Year Partnership

April 2, 2010, Sarasota, FL - CampusWorks Inc., an information technology management firm specializing exclusively in community college solutions, announces that Middlesex Community College (MCC), MA, has extended its information technology (IT) management and delivery services contract with CampusWorks until June 30, 2016, creating a16-year IT partnership.

Established in 1969 and now serving more than 10,000 credit students and 8,000 noncredit students, MCC has campuses in Bedford and Lowell, MA. The College began its technology consulting and leadership collaboration with CampusWorks in 1999, and since that time significant accomplishments have included: strengthening the College's senior-level IT leadership; enhancing the SungardHE Banner implementation, including the rollout of Banner Finance and Human Resources modules and the automation of financial aid processing in the Banner Financial Aid module; implementing a comprehensive Identity Management Architecture; completing a comprehensive upgrade to the College’s telecommunications systems, including the phone and network electronics; organizing technology services to support and improve teaching and learning; ensuring compliance with federal, state and credit card industry data security requirements; implementing a College-wide content management system; supporting the College’s learning management system; and supporting the College’s developmental advising program (funded by a Title III grant) through the implementation of a comprehensive degree planning solution (DegreeWorks), an online academic catalog management system (Acalog) and an early alert system (SARS Alert).

Under the new extension, CampusWorks will continue to provide MCC with an on-site leadership team and higher education technology specialists to assist in the planning and implementation of all current and new IT initiatives. CampusWorks also will renew the College’s 2008-2013 Technology Tactical Plan by performing a “Tactical Planning Outcome Program,” a proprietary methodology developed by CWI. The results of this activity will include an updated and detailed scope of deliverables for both the College IT staff and user constituencies.

In June 2002, CampusWorks Vice President of Operations Dr. Darrow Neves was assigned to MCC as Chief Technology Officer. Just over three years later, in September of 2005, President Carole Cowan honored Neves with the College's President's Award in acknowledgement of the tremendous impact of CampusWorks College-wide IT initiatives at MCC. Since 2007, CampusWorks General Manager and Chief Technology Officer Carol Thomas has served in the posts of Chief Technology Officer and Director of Administrative Systems/Banner Project Manager.

This vote of confidence from MCC’s President, Carole Cowan, could not be clearer. In reflecting on the impact of the highly productive CampusWorks partnership, President Cowan remarked, “We would not be able to do the things we do, the way we do them today, without CampusWorks here. The partnership with CampusWorks is one of the best technology decisions the College has made.”

MCC Executive Vice President Jay Linnehan echoed those sentiments, noting, “The College must continue to invest in technology and cannot afford to make a bad decision with its financial or human resources. I have tremendous confidence that all recommended projects from CampusWorks are technically well-conceived and fiscally well-balanced.”

MCC’s contract extension follows the September 2009 announcement of another long-term extension with Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC), MA, creating a 15-year partnership. At BHCC, which is led by President Mary Fifield, CampusWorks provides IT leadership through the Chief Information Officer position, a Datatel Project Manager, and project-specific technology specialists.
