Heartland Community College Selects CampusWorks to Provide Technology Visioning and Planning Services 

March 16, 2010, Sarasota, FL – CampusWorks (CWI), an Information Technology management and solutions firm specializing exclusively in technology management and planning services for community colleges, is pleased to announce a new contract with Heartland Community College, IL.

Heartland Community College (HCC), established in 1990, is the newest community college in Illinois. HCC offers programs in more than 40 career fields, enrolls over 5,200 credit students, and serves the community college district’s population of 190,000 at its three campuses.

The HCC Board of Trustees approved the contract with CampusWorks to manage and deliver a College-wide technology planning and visioning initiative for developing a robust and full technology master plan.  The Board selected CampusWorks over competing companies based on its positive track record, client references, and IT staff expertise in performing similar IT assessments and planning services. 

The College invests $1.5 million to $2 million annually in technology.  Additionally, the College’s Normal campus has just completed several new buildings, so it's important to prioritize technology investments, said Rob Widmer, Vice President of Business Services.  HCC last hired an outside firm to complete a similar plan in 1997, he added. In 2004, Heartland's technology staff updated that plan. 

CampusWorks technology planning development effort will utilize a “best practice” approach that permits a comprehensive review of the current and projected state of technology at HCC and an exploration of the potential adaptation of new emerging technologies.  The review will engage representatives of all stakeholders and thereby integrate the widest variety of relevant ideas.  CampusWorks is pleased to add HCC to the growing number of colleges who have selected CampusWorks for technology visioning and planning assignments throughout North America.
