Coconino Community College Selects CampusWorks for 60-month Technology Management Contract
December 3, 2007, Sarasota, Florida - CampusWorks Inc. (CWI), an information technology management firm specializing exclusively in higher education solutions, announced that Coconino Community College (CCC) in Flagstaff, Arizona, has signed a multi-year contract for the company’s innovative, Learner-Centered Technology Management Co-Source Model, including filling the Chief Information Officer and Banner Project Management positions.
Coconino Community College, under the leadership of President Leah Bornstein, is a comprehensive college enrolling over 3,600 students and serving a widely-dispersed population of over 120,000 people throughout northern Arizona. To serve this extensive area, CCC maintains 3 campuses and 2 satellite locations.
Under this new contract, CampusWorks will furnish a highly experienced project delivery team to assume responsibility for the positions of Chief Information Officer, Banner Project Manager and functional/technical subject matter experts. The functional/technical subject matter experts are highly experienced with technology planning, new emerging technologies, Banner software, web/portal technologies, instructional technologies, network/ infrastructure, cyber security enhancements, and IT staff development and training best practices. The CampusWorks Project Delivery Team, along with talented College IT staff, will immediately begin to assess the current state of the network and security initiatives, Banner implementation, as well as CCC’s technology infrastructure.
Prior to selecting CampusWorks, the CCC administration investigated many options for external consulting and technology management services--including local consulting companies, software consulting companies, internal hiring, CampusWorks co-source services, and full outsourcing services. As part of the thorough due diligence process, the Coconino Community College leadership team reviewed the track record and caliber/experience of the proposed technology management staff of CampusWorks by contacting many of CampusWorks long standing technology management clients with a similar set of technology objectives and administrative systems (Banner). Through this process, they learned about the exceptional results demonstrated at many CampusWorks clients such as Bunker Hill Community College, MA, Grand Rapids Community College, MI, Middlesex Community College, MA, and Red Deer College, Alberta, among others. The outsource model at Mohave Community College, a neighboring institution, was also reviewed but deemed not appropriate to satisfy the needs of the College.
The CCC administration determined that CampusWorks’ product independent technology management approach was the right choice for CCC; further, CampusWorks was selected based on the experience and caliber of the proposed delivery team, the exceptional track record throughout North America, and the flexibility in the company's contract method as opposed to all other consulting/ outsourcing/hiring options.
The CampusWorks team will be deployed and monitored under the guidance of Dr. Darrow Neves, CampusWorks Vice President of Operations. Dr. Neves will be responsible for CampusWorks staff assigned to CCC and will have the ultimate responsibility/ accountability for the successful implementation of all CCC technology initiatives and priority projects at the College. Dr. Neves stated, “CampusWorks is proud that Coconino Community College selected our innovative technology management co-source model which has been implemented successfully with community colleges throughout North America. We are privileged to replicate this learner-centered technology management model and the successes we have experienced with a number of institutions whose needs parallel and are similar to CCC’s required technology initiatives.”
CampusWorks is pleased to add the Coconino Community College to the growing number of progressive colleges throughout North America who have selected CampusWorks’ innovative, Learner-Centered Technology Management Co-Source Model. This model, which engenders a learning and mentoring environment that seeks to identify, cultivate, and advance College IT staff skills, was pioneered by CampusWorks in early 1999. The model was developed in response to the shifting demands of the higher education market and replaces an outdated staff termination model of outsourcing with a model blending highly experienced CampusWorks management and technical specialists with talented local community college employees. CampusWorks has successfully implemented this model throughout North America at progressive colleges in search of dramatic increases in the return on technology investments and constituent user satisfaction.
