Dear Colleagues,
For the past 20 years, I have been privileged to serve community colleges throughout the country -for 16 years as President of Valencia Community College in Florida and most recently as Interim President at Colorado's Aims Community College and The Community College of Southern Nevada. Although I have recently retired from these positions, I am still very interested in continuing to serve community colleges throughout North America. In this context, I am pleased to inform you that I have accepted an invitation to become a member of the Executive Advisory Board (EAB) of CampusWorks Inc. (CWI).
My decision to accept these responsibilities as an EAB member is based upon much research into CampusWorks, their staff, and most importantly the clients who have benefited from their services. I was extremely impressed with the “votes of confidence” from community college presidents that I know and respect. For example, in 2005, President Juan Olivarez at Grand Rapids CC, MI, approved a five year IT partnership extension (PeopleSoft platform), President Mary Fifield at Bunker Hill CC, MA, approved a five-year extension creating an 11-year IT partnership (Datatel platform), and most recently, President Carole Cowan at Middlesex CC, MA, approved a five-year extension creating a 12-year IT partnership (Banner platform). These are just three of the many examples of CWI’s exemplary and cost-effective technology management contracts. Please note the news release on this website announcing these extended partnerships.
After serving as community college president for 20 years and knowing the instability in the technology field, I truly appreciate the magnitude of these contract extensions. To form a relationship for five, eleven or twelve years, a president must have extreme confidence and satisfaction in the partnership –especially for such a crucial role as technology leadership. It indicates a superior level of performance, cost effectiveness and a trust that is unmatched in higher education. CampusWorks is also blessed with a large cadre of talented and highly experienced chief information officers and technology specialists. As I reviewed the credentials of CampusWorks’ staff, I was extremely impressed with their qualifications and broad range of experience.
I am honored to be serving on the Executive Advisory Board with others who have also associated themselves with CampusWorks to help provide accurate, relevant and strategic direction to our community college colleagues. The EAB includes others whose names you will quickly recognize including Mr. David Rutledge, past ACCT Board Chair and member of the Washtenaw CC, MI, Board of Trustees; Dr. Del Anderson, ACCT Consultant and Chancellor Emeritus, San Francisco CCD; Dr. Nolen Ellison, former President of Cuyahoga Community College; Dr. Henry Shannon, past AACC Board Chair and Chancellor of St. Louis Community College System; Dr. Cynthia Heelan, retired President, Colorado Mountain College; and Dr. Evelyn Clements, Vice President Emeritus of Student Development, Middlesex CC, MA.
Based on my research, thorough review and what I have witnessed first hand, I have concluded that CampusWorks is the premier technology management firm serving community colleges throughout the United States and Canada. CWI is dedicated to assisting college presidents and trustees think through their IT issues relative to the allocation of scarce financial resources. Techniques like co-sourcing (as opposed to outsourcing) and multi-college collaboration are some of the tools used by CWI to help their clients increase service and effectiveness while lowering overall costs.
I look forward to bringing a president's viewpoint to assist potential clients in learning about the wonderful information technology services CWI offers.
Sincerely,
|
